Slovenia / Austria: Motorbike trip to Ovčarski bal and Hike to Virnikov Grintovec
The Shepherds Ball (Ovčarski bal) is a celebration of local traditions, when locals dress in folk costumes and welcome back the sheep that have spent the summer on high mountain pastures. Shepherds demonstrate activities associated with sheep and wool making from a woollen fleece of the indigenous Jezersko-Solčava sheep. The 300 local sheep that spend their summers on pasture high in the Karawanks are still an important source of income for the villagers. Since Nada's company Hope's Bivouac is dealing with merino wool, she had a stand there, while joined her later after my motorcycle and hiking trip to nearby Virnikov Grintovec.

After the hike I joined Nada and the crowd at the Shepherds Ball (Ovčarski bal) and then my Blue Horse - Yamaha took me back home.
