Slovenia: Hike & Fly: Kriška gora

Another nice start of the the with a Hike & Fly adventure with Rok. This time we chose Koča na Kriški gori mountain hut, 1471 m, as our take off point. Cloudy weather threathened for a while, but we found a cloudless minute and safely took off.

Morning clouds significantly reduced the visibility

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mountain Biking in Blidinje, Day 3 - Descent from Blidinje to Mostar

Our 4th cycling tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina was close to an end. This year we decided to cycle around Blidinje Nature Park, with our base being the Orlova stina mountain lodge, just by the Blidinje lake and for the last day we just descended to Mostar.

Previous days of our mountain biking: Day 2 and Day 1.

The largest river of the eastern part of the Adriatic basin is Neretva.

The Old Bridge stood for 427 years, until it was destroyed on 9 November 1993 by Croat military forces during the Croat–Bosniak War.

Drivers lost our cars, so we searched for them in the city.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mountain Biking in Blidinje, Day 2 - Royal Stage - Pločno

Our 4th cycling tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina continued. This year we decided to cycle around Blidinje Nature Park, with our base being the Orlova stina mountain lodge, just by the Blidinje lake.

Royal Stage was to conquer Pločno, the peak of Čvrsnica mountain at elevation of 2.228 meters over the sea level. Steep gravel road was difficult to cycle, but with a little bit of stubbornes, it was totally doable. At the top we had a beer at the military radio relay station - thanks a lot and we won't tell anyone.

Previous days of our mountain biking: Day 1.

We warmed our legs and now let's ride towards the summit

Last meters before the summit were easy.

The crew that conquered Pločno: Nunar, Tuši, Štefe, Šivic, Bađo, Nada, Uroš and Tona. Slavc was too quick for the photographer.

Čvrsnica is a mountain in the Dinarides of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in northern Herzegovina, most of the mountain is located in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton municipalities of Mostar and Jablanica while the smaller part of the mountain, around 10% is located in the municipality of Posušje. The highest peak (Pločno) is 2228 metres high.

Back to our 3 day home, Orlova stina mountain lodge.

Blidinje lake is the direct result of a glacial retreat, but according to the Poklečani Parishes office documents, lake is, also, a product of anthropogenic intervention and activities of human inhabitants. According to these documents, in order to keep the water that is lost through the subterranean passage, local residents and cattle breeders sealed sinkholes with branches and clay, so that water could not find its way underground. Therefore, the lake was formed. Its surface area varies between 2,5 and 6 km², while its average depth is 1,9 m, with altitude of 1.184 m a.s.l.
