Slovenia: Through Šentana Valley

Our local sports club ŠD Podljubelj prepared a list of hiking adventures and for the second one, Nada, Bronco and me chose a hike through our village Podljubelj. We started from the bottom and on the way we visited all the bars/restaurants that used to be working. Nowadays, only one is officially open, although we counted 15 possible places, where you could have a beer in the past. So we finished the hike with only one beer in Karavla 297.

Start of the hike on the border between Čegljše nad Podljubelj.

In the middle of the village the dragon surprised us.

Name of the valley comes from Sv. Ana church at the top of the valley.

Slovenia: Mali Juhej, Veliki Juhej and Born family tomb with the Hike & Fly from Dobrča

Our local sports club ŠD Podljubelj prepared a list of hiking adventures and for the first one, Nada, Bronco and me chose a hike in Jelendol. Easy hike led us past a wooden chapel to a peak called Mali Juhej. Its bigger brother Veliki Juhej stands just a few minutes away and from there we descended back to the village and from there we visited the Born family tomb.

In the afternoon we went out one more time. Nada and Bronco hiked to Vaško, while I continued to the Dobrča take off site. After my flight we all met at Katja and Dejan's place in Brezje pri Tržiču.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Sveti Jakob

In the lower altitudes, the weather was still OK for flying, so Rok and me decided to visit Sveti Jakob. 45 minutes of easy hiking and we were standing on our take off site. Since the wind was getting stronger every second, we quickly set up our wings and flew back to Trnovec.

Quick photo after the take off.

Village Trnovec was our starting and endpoint - Garmin Connect.

Slovenia: Around Bohinjska Bela

Nada, Bronco and me decided to do a walk around Bohinjska Bela, more specifically to walk the Grumble Bear Trail - link. Easy hike, where you can visit the Iglica waterfall and pick up a geocache on the way was a great choice for this Sunday.

Iglica Waterfall could've been much nicer. Bronco found another geocache.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Palec

With some local guys, we decided to do a backcountry skiing trip to Palec. Mihael, Aleks, Marko, Roman, Žiga and me gathered on Ljubelj and our journey began. We passed the Dom na Zelenici mountain hut and soon we were cirque valley called Suho Ruševje. At the saddle between Zelenjak and Palec, called Žleb, we left our skis and put on the crampons. With the help of the ice axes we conquered the summit of Palec. Hard work was behind us and we just enjoyed in the skiing back to the valley.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Srednji vrh

Let's discover something new with the skis. Srednji vrh above Završnica seemed like a good idea and it was fun, especially just bellow the summit, where the snow was blown away and I needed to walk across the dwarf mountain pine. Still I made it and even skiing back to the valley was good.

This skis are made for skiing and walking over the dwarf mountain pine.

View towards Bled.

Srednja peč and the highest peak of the Karawanks, Stol.

Stol and Vrtača. Many options for skiing.

Slovenia: Geocaching to Osolnik

Osolnik ali Osovnik is a 858 metres above sea level high peak on the eastern side of Polhograjski Dolmiti. It offers wonderful views of  nearby Škofja Loka, Sorško polje field and Karawanks and Kamnik-Savinja  Alps in the distance.

I had some free time after work and before my weekly basketball recreation, so I drove to Gosteče, where I hiked to Osolnik and along the way I found a few geocaches.

Nise forest path with the view to our mountains.

Just below the summit.

View from the top to Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

On the top stands the church of Saint Hermagoras and Fortunats.

Osolnik, also called Osovnik by the locals, is a high, bare peak in the eastern part of the Sora plain. The legend says that Saint Hermagoras visited the hill centuries ago. There, he spoke to God, who showed him the passage of time and entrusted his homeland into his protection. His footsteps can still be seen on the steep north-facing slopes, as they cannot be covered.

Sun went down, so I had to return back.

Hike was done and geocaches found - Garmin Connect.
