Slovenia: Triathlon: Backcountry Skiing, Hiking, Sledding

Good weather, no hangover and waking up early made me do a little bit different triathlon. In the morning I went Backcountry Skiing from Ljubelj to Vrh Ljubeljšice, 1704 m, then I picked up Nada and we went hiking to Kofce, 1488 m. After lunch we decided to do one more thing, sledding from Ljubelj Pass. All adventures were done in my golden village.

With Nada we did the hike to Dom na Kofcah mountain hut, 1488 m.

Direct route to the car on the path I never walked before led us passed this bridge

After lunch we carried our sled to Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m, and we raced back to the valley.

Slovenia: Another lost bet in F1 with Dejan

A while ago, when F1 season finished in 2014, I lost another bet against Dejan in our yearly F1 predictions. Fernando Alonso was better than Kimi Räikkönen, so I had to take Dejan out to dinner. His chosen restaurant was closed, so we improvised a little and ended up in Gostilna Pr Matičku.

We reviewed the bets and we found out, that this was already our 13th bet and the score is probably 8:5 for Dejan.

Our guys competed in Ferrari F14 T and Alonso was just better.

Germanyembedded world in Nürnberg - Day 3

Time passes by and it was already last day in Nürnberg. We left our rooms and on our way to the fair we did a quick shopping. We stopped in a beer shop and we all felt young again.

Germanyembedded world in Nürnberg - Day 2

In Pension Florida 3 nice young ladies prepared breakfast for us and soon we were on a metro towards the fair.

We spent the whole day at the fair, checking new products, instruments, development tools, etc.

Our 2-day map

After the fair we decided to explore the city.

St. Lorenz (St. Lawrence) is a medieval church of the former free imperial city of Nuremberg.

Nürnberger Burg (Nuremberg Castle) comprises three sections: the Imperial castle (Kaiserburg), some buildings of the Burgraves of Nuremberg (Burggrafenburg), and the municipal buildings of the Imperial City at the eastern site (Reichsstädtische Bauten). The castle, together with the city walls, is considered to be one of Europe's most formidable medieval fortifications.

Germanyembedded world in Nürnberg - Day 1

After many years, my precious company decided to allow me and 3 of my co-workers (Kirk, Rok and Peter) to see the fair in Nürnberg, called embedded world. We started driving at noon and we arrived in the evening to our hotel. Since it was still early, we decided to take a quick tour in the city and have a Franconian beer.

Since we arrived quite late, we only checked one piece of old town. On the left is Weißer Turm and on the right, West facade of the St. Lorenz.

Short article about beer and Nürnberg copied from this link.

Franconian Beer

For centuries, Nuremberg has been an important city for brewing beer. Whether light, dark or the traditional red – you’ll find something for every taste here. The most famous and popular breweries are the Tucher Traditionsbrauerei, Hausbrauerei Altstadthof and Schanzenbräu. Linked to this beer tradition and a special highlight of the city are the historical rock cut cellars, which are cut up to four stories deep into the sandstone hill beneath Nuremberg. Today, as in the past, they are a cool storage place for tasty specialties made from hops and malt.

Nuremberg and Franconia – The Land of 1000 Beers!

It’s not only Nuremberg that has a strong tie to beer, but also the surrounding region of Franconia. This area has the highest density of breweries in the world. In Upper Franconia alone there are more than 200 breweries! Pilsner, dark beer, smoked beer and “Zwickel” are only four of the countless beers that Franconia has to offer.
The best place to enjoy a fresh Franconian beer is in one of the many brew pubs, beer gardens, beer cellars or beer festivals in the area. Here, you’ll experience the best of Franconian hospitality.

Slovenia: Sledding Day

Bad weather was still good for a quick sledding. Nada and me chose the track from Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m, and we did two runs, one before lunch and one after it.

Slow track, still a nice day out

SloveniaBackcountry skiing - Begunjščica

Weather forecast was good, so a couple of us decided to do a hike to Begunjščica, 2060 m. Grega and me decided to carry the skis up there and ski down. The plan was set and we started with our adventure a little before 7 a.m..

After an hour, we reached Dom na Zelenici mountain hut, 1536 m, where we stopped for a cup of tea.

We continued with crampons and ice-axes, Grega and me carried the skis.

Navigation wasn't easy because of the fog and we missed our planned track, nevertheless we managed to conquer the top.

A little bit windy, foggy and cold.

With Joža on the top.

We started as the group of 5, finished as group of 8. Joža, Špela, Izidor, Tuši, Nada, Grega, Rok and Vlado.

Descent wasn't easy due to very low visibility. Even Grega and me descended a couple of meters with crampons and we attached the skis a bit later.

Finally skiing.

First use of new equipment was a total success.
