Nada organized a little different birthday party. She organized a hike from tacen to Grmada, 676 m, and Šmarna gora, 669 m, where we had a special edition of Belokranjska pogača and hot wine. Cheers Nada!

Austria: Hike to Kozjak

Fog, clouds, wind. Who cares. Nada and me drove to Poden (Bodental), from where we started our hike. Our first stop was Mlaka (Märchenwiese) and from there we continued over Vrata to Klagenfurter Hutte/Celovška koča, 1664 m. We stopped only to find our 2nd GeoCache and then we attacked the peak Ovčji vrh (Kozjak) / Geissberg (Kosiak), 2014 m. After a photosession on the top we descended back with a detour to Ogrisalm/Vgrizeva planina, 1569 m.

Weather improved for 5 minutes 

On the top, Nada and Tuši. Most visitors would remember Geissberg/Kozjak as a grassy, rounded mountain with a great view on the central part of Karawanks massif. Maybe we will to, but next time.

Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities. Did I join? I did!

Slovenia: GeoCaching in Tivoli, Rožnik and Šišenski Hrib Nature Park

After lunch Nada and me decided o find some GeoCaches nearby, so we went hiking to Tivoli, Rožnik and Šišenski Hrib Nature Park. One of them took us to the remains of the first large ski jumping hill of Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana.

Short history:
With “Skakalnica na Galetovem” the first large ski jumping hill of Slovenia's capital Ljubljana was constructed in 1954. Winner of the opening competition on the ski jump constructed by Stanko Bloudek was Janez Polda in 1955. Highlight of the jump's history was the competition for the Kongsberg Trophy in 1961 when 20,000 spectators watched winner Marjan Pečar. But then the ski jump at Šiška was already torn down in 1967.

Slovenia: GeoCaching in Udin Boršt

Grega, Rok and me gathered at 4:30 a.m. in Senično and we started the hike in Udin boršt, that led us to a hidden GeoCache. In 53 minutes we were back at our cars, after 2,46 km of walking.

Introducing Udin boršt

Due to the natural conditions of a glacier terrace made of limestone conglomerate, Udin boršt is one of the last continuous areas of lowland forests in central Slovenia. Perforated by numerous sinkholes, karst caves, and water springs, it is the best example of the so called conglomerate karst in Slovenia. For centuries farmers have been managing the forest and countryside surroundings with utmost care and their way of life can be seen in many cultural heritage buildings, local craftsmanship, traditions and holidays. Even brigands, a gang of bandits, who lived in this area mostly in the first half of the 19th century, found secret shelters in the heart of Udin boršt. Udin boršt, at the doorstep of Naklo and Kranj, offers, both locals and visitors relaxation, diverse experience of forest and agricultural landscape and a chance to discover varied country heritage.

Slovenia: GeoCaching around Utik, Finished 50 hikes to Kršiše in 2014

Today we had a GeoCaching morning. Nada, my sister's family and me went hunting for treasures in Utik. I chose a series of caches, called Pot na "Klopco" (Path to the "Bench").

Two of the GeoCaches took us to small Watermills, that were built by Franc Repnik around 1987. There are more than 100 of them on the Mrzli Spring. One of the points took us also to Žegnan studenec (Blessed spring).

The day still wasn't finished. With my neighbours and Nada we went to a short hike to Kršiše. With this ascend I finished with my yearly plan, to conquer it for 50 times, therefore we all had a nice dinner by the light of torches on the top.

Our dinner: Prosciutto from Njeguš (Njeguška pršuta) - thanks to Stane and Bonja, cheese, black olives, bread, tea and hot wine.

Slovenia: Hike to Vrtača

Initial plan, to conquer the highest peak of the Karawanks, fell into the water, nevertheless Nada and me conquered Vrtača, 2181 m. We started a bit late and at cca. 1300 m a.m.s.l. we changed the surface type, from normal to snowy. Nice sunny Saturday on the snow was ahead of us.

Slovenia: My first Inline Hockey Game

Our sport and cultural society ŠKD Indijanci organized Inline Hockey game and 6 of us attended. We all had a great time and I think we will soon organize another event like this. BTW, the match ended 2:2, total spectators on the match 4 (Bine, Rožle, Anja and Nada).

Slovenia: Hike: 28th Levstik's trail: From Litija to Čatež

Around 5000 hikers from all over Slovenia took part in walking the Levstik path. The 22 km journey from Litija to Čatež is one of the most popular hiking events in Slovenia. The trail was described by Fran Levstik in his travelogue “The Journey from Litija to Čatež”.

Our Sport Society Podljubelj decided to join this event. We participated with 18 people. The bus picked us up in front of local school and took us to Šmartno pri Litiji, so our hike was a little bit shorter, but still more than 20 kilometres long.
