Slovenia: Sledding Competition - Dom pod Storžičem

Guys from the neighbouring village organized a sledding competition on a track Storžič. It was the first race in season 2022/23 for the Cup of Slovenia. 34 competitors came to the start and I was one of them, competing in a seniors category. Although I wasn't so good in the first run, I gained some time on 2nd run and that was enough for a gold medal in my category.

Too fast on the first run resulted in an unwanted jump and since the track was too soft, I lost a lot of time.

I did better on the 2nd run.

Slovenia: Sledding - Dom pod Storžičem

Since there is a sledding race scheduled tomorrow in a nearby village, I decided to go there and test the track with a few runs. Bronco and Nada joined me on the hiking part and then they patiently waited in Dom pod Storžičem mountain hut. The track was soft and I hope the training paid off.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Vrh Ljubeljščice and Sledding Course

Our sport society decided to have a sledding course for the local school. Majority of the people would say, why would I need a course for a thing like that, but when you know how to sled, you know why it is a real sport and you know how to enjoy it even more. I decided to help them, but before the course, I did a quick backcountry skiing tour to a nearby hill.

Well, today I wasn't the first one here.

Still plenty of fresh snow and once more I was able to ski all the way to my home door - Garmin Connect.

We all had a great day and our new hut was found very useful.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Povna peč

Before work, Nada took me to Ljubelj, from where I ascended via Koča na Ljubelju to Povna peč and then I skied back home, straight to the meeting.

 

Once more, alone on the top of Povna peč, 1503 m.

I spoiled the fresh snow with my tracks.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Hajnževo sedlo

Fresh snow is like opium, so I took my skis and I my destination was saddle between Košutica and Veliki vrh, called Hajnževo sedlo. Since the 2nd half of my route I walked on untrodden snow, it took me a while to reach the saddle, but everything was paid off, when I skied back down.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Povna peč

Maja, Teodor and Gregor visited us and together we decided to go out on the snow, our destination, Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut. Everyone except me, decided to use sled for the way back, while I prolonged the trip to Povna peč and then I skied all the way back home - Garmin Connect.

Our local sledding track was ready, so we gathered in our new hut, where we still do some finishing works and then we also did a few runs on the track.

In the afternoon I helped to arrange the sledding track in our village (Garmin Connect), and then Nada and I went in the evening to wish my neighbour a happy birthday.

Slovenia: Šija

Today we decided to do some nearby hiking. We drove to Vasovje, from where we started hiking towards Kal, we passed the chapel of St. John the Baptist and after 2 hours we reached our destination Šija. In the hut we had a nice lunch and then we returned back to our destination.

 

From Kal we reached the chapel of St. John the Baptist (kapelica sv. Janeza Krstnika).
