Romania / Hungary: Summer Vacation 2022 - Day 16: Highest point of Hungary

Our main destination for this year's summer vacation was Romania and after 2 weeks we ended our visit in this beautiful country and started driving towards our home. Since the road was long, we stayed over night near Lake Balaton.

We camped near Tisa river and over the river we spotted the neighbouring country Ukraine.

In Hungary, we decided to conquer their highest peak called Kékes, 1015 m.

 Kékes is located in the Mátra mountain range, in northeastern Hungary.

You can drive all the way to the top, still we decided to have an easy hike from Mátraháza.

We finished the hike near Mátraházai Magyarok Nagyasszonya templom - Franciscan Chapel of Our Lady of Magyars in Mátraháza - Garmin Connect.

We decided to stay near Lake Balaton.

In 2016 we cycled around the lake (Day 1 - 13652, Day 2 - 13653) and in 2011, we had a motorbike trip there (Day 1 - 11817, Day 2 - 11818).
