Slovenia: Stegovnik

I took Nada and Aljančič family to Stegovnik, a peak in our municipality, that they haven't conquered before. We started the hike from Medvodje in Jelendol, following Tržiška Bistrica and Fevča creeks to the saddle Pri Lojtri, from where we quickly reached the summit. We had a nice snack at the top and then we continued with our round trip. The biggest attraction on the way was the path that leads through the window "Stegovnikovo okno". Soon we left the marked trail and the combination of roads, unmarked tracks and goat paths took us to the Stegovnik waterfall, from where we had only a few hundred meters to the parking lot.

We immediately started exploring new terrains.

Cold and from time to time icy terrain on the North side of our mountain.

We hiked on different types of paths.

View to one of Slovenian most beautiful ridges - Košuta.

Approaching the summit.

Andreja and stubborn trees.

View to main massif of Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

Leaving the peak and continuing on the ridge, direction SW.

Storžič and Tim.

The marked route leads us through a nice, quite big window in stone.

We tried to convince Tim, that he has to climb straight up to the window, where we were already waiting.

What we persuaded Tim, we couldn't repeat with Nada and Andreja.

Interesting system of windows.

Nada and the spectators from the window.

Time for a break.

Andreja between 3 windows.

Tuši and Nada.

Crawling through one of the side windows.

On our way back we had to jump over Stegovnik creek.

Stegovnik waterfall is most magnificent after heavy rainfalls, while it freezes in winter and becomes a challenge for local ice climbers.
