Slovenia: Hike from Dovška Baba to Ljubelj

Today I joined Dejan and Katja on their hike from Ravne below Dovška Baba to Ljubelj. We started with the hike at 5 a.m. and past mountain pasture Dovška Rožca we conquered Dovška Baba in a good hour. We started following the ridge of the Karawanks, conquering peaks Hruški vrh, Klek, Golica, Vajnež and Stol following by a descend to Ljubelj. The weather was on our side and in half a day we managed 31 kilometres with around 2300 meters of altitude gain.

View from mountain pasture Dovška Rožca, 1650 m, to the start of our hike all the way to Stol.

Julian Alps.

Tuši and Dejan. My T-shirt was leaking.

Me and Katja on Dovška Baba.

Towards Hruški vrh, 1776 m.

A long day ahead of us.

Beautiful mountain pasture Planina Rožca / Roschitzaalm, 1407 m, with Koprivnjak, 1754 m.

On Hruški vrh, 1776 m, almost above the Karawanks Tunnel.

View back to Dovška Baba, where we arrived to the Karawanks ridge.

Fence jumping.

Drava valley in Koroška / Carinthia.

View from the top of Golica, 1835 m.

We missed the blooming fields of wild white narcissi, still two handsome guys beautified the summit of Golica.

We had plenty of drinks and food with us, so we skipped the detour to mountain hut Koča na Golici.

Shepherd Tuši.

Our only stop at the hut on the way, Belska planina (Svečica), 1700 m, below Struška.

Approaching mountain pasture Planina Seča, 1698 m.

Conquered Vajnež, 2104 m.

View to the West with Kozjak and Celovška koča mountain hut.

Summit cross on top of Vajnež.

It became a little foggy as we were approaching the highest peak of the Karawanks.

Tuši, Katja and Dejan on top of Stol, 2236 m.

Scree for a little quicker descent.

Below Stol and without any peaks in front of us.

The way ahead of us with the summit of Vrtača in the clouds. Luckily the path leads also around the summit.

Katja on the crossroad.

Last photo of the great day.

Half a day hike - Garmin Connect.
