Bosnia and Herzegovina: MTB trip with AO Tržič - Buna and Mostar

Our local Mountaineering Society AO Tržič organizes a mountain biking trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2015 and this year's destination was the area around Nevesinje. On our last day some of us did a descent from Novakuša to Mostar and on our way we also visited an abandoned military airplane hangar, before we regrouped with others in Mostar.

Previous days of this trip: Day 3 - 16081, Day 2 - 16080, Day 1 - 16079.
Previous MTB Trips with AO Tržič: 1. 2015 (13161, 13162, 13163), 2. 2016 (13518), 3. 2017 (13889, 13890, 13891),  4. 2018 (142531425414255), 6. 2020 (14997), 7. 2021 (1535315354), 8. 2022 (157151571615717).

Ride towards the breakfast.

Loading the bikes.

Better than driving in a van.

When we were driving down, we spotted the Blagaj Fortress. Meanwhile one of our electric bikes increased its range to 252 km.

At an underground air base in Gnojnice called "Buna", that could allegedly house more than 10 hunter class airplanes like the MiG-29.

Like so many military installations from the Yugoslav era this aircraft hangar outside of Mostar lies abandoned, but can be still be visited by anyone looking for a bit of off-the-beaten-path urban exploring.

Today's cyclists on the old bridge, a rebuilt 16th-century Ottoman bridge, where we finished our cycling trip - Garmin Connect.

Neretva and Bazzar Kujundžiluk.

Sightseeing in Mostar with the view to Stari most - Old Bridge.
