Czech Republic: Riding to Plzeň

Nada and me prolonged our vacation in Czech Republic, so we had a new plan. Today we just needed to do a ride to Plzeň, the city worldwide known for Pilsner beer.

The Great Synagogue (Velká Synagoga) in Plzeň was originally designed with 65-meter high towers. Design was later changed and the towers are now 20 meters smaller.

 

The cathedral of St. Bartholomew is a Gothic church located on the Main Square. It was probably established together with the city around the year 1295.

Plzeň as a town appears at the end of the 13th century, the square existing since then. Around the oblong square regular blocks of houses delimitated by a rectangular network of streets were built.

Pilsen City Hall stands close to Cathedral of St. Bartholomew.

Katedrála svatého Bartoloměje became a cathedral in 1993, when the Pilsner diocese was created.

Šafaříkovy sady is known to locals as a "špek park" with West Bohemian Museum.
