Czech Republic: Cycling from Prague to Týn nad Vltavou

Cycling adventure in Czech Republic went on. Today Nada and me cycled from Prague to Týn nad Vltavou and this stage was 157 kilometres long. On the way we crossed Vltava river 8 times.

Previous days of our Czech cycling trip: Day 3Day 2Day 1.

Leaving our apartment in Prague over Karlův most - Charles Bridge.

Below Vyšehrad, direction South.

Building new cycle paths.

Time for some photos.

Sometimes you just have to be lucky. We missed the route a little bit, but in the end we were able to cross the Vltava over the railway bridge.

Vltava and bridge in Štěchovice.

Slapy, a village located next to Slapy Dam, which is the 6th largest dam in the Czech Republic by area. It has an area of 11626 square kilometres.

Over Cholín bridge, 227 meters long, built in 1956.

Our bikes, Black Beauty and Metliška Črnina.

Through villages of Skryšov and Hojšín.

Towards Kamýk nad Vltavou and our break for mini lunch.

Quick lunch.

We had quite empty roads today. Krásná Hora nad Vltavou was one of the villages on our way.

View to Orlík Reservoir, the largest hydroelectric dam in the Czech Republic. The structure is named after Orlík Castle, which is situated a few kilometres above the dam. The dam has four turbines with a nominal capacity of 91 MW each having a total capacity of 364 MW.

Two boat lifts on the right bank for boat transport are equipped on the dam.

First flat tyre on the way.

In 5 minutes we were ready to continue.

We rode on all possible surfaces.

Nice remote areas.

After the beer in Orlík nad Vltavou we were ready to continue.

Through Záhoří.

We escaped from the rain and made a first selfie today.

Rain is all around us.

Found a rain free space on a bus station.

One of the last villages on our way - Albrechtice nad Vltavou.

Since we were close to our destination, the rain didn't stop us anymore.

2nd cycling day in Czech Republic - Garmin Connect.

After 157 kilometres we were hungry, so we left our hostel and started a search for a restaurant.

Over Vltava to the city centre of Týn nad Vltavou for dinner.
