Croatia / Bosnia and Herzegovina / Montenegro: Riding from Slovenia to Montenegro, Day 4

I gave myself a present of a free week and decided to use it for cycling. My goal was to cycle from my home country to Montenegro.

I advanced faster than planned, so my plan for today was to reach Montenegro. Nada also started with her driving, so we decided to met somewhere on the way and decide where we would spend the night. My riding led me over Neretva river to Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the city of Neum. I returned back to Croatia and continued above touristic Dubrovnik, where buses were dragging tourists to numerous touristic points. Luckily that crowded section was short. Soon Nada and me met. Quick stop, and we had a plan. We set a meeting point for dinner in Herceg Novi and a final destination in Kotor.

Previous days of the bike trip: Day 3Day 2 and Day 1.

Above Neretva Delta, a unique landscape in southern Croatia, and a wetland that is listed under the Ramsar Convention as internationally important, as the wetland extends into the Hutovo Blato in Herzegovina.

View to Šipan, the largest of the Elaphiti Islands.

Trsteno is most famous for its arboretum, is the oldest arboretum in this part of the world. The pride of the arboretum, two Oriental Planes located on the central market place of Trsteno, are over 500 years old and are unique specimens of its kind in Europe.

My road bike "Metliška Črnina" above Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. Lately it has been occupied by the fans of the Game of Thrones series, that was filmed here.

My ass needed a long break, well it gets a short one

The meeting point before the border with Montenegro

Welcome to Montenegro. After 4 days I reached my destination.

Washed my hands too much.

View over Bay of Kotor to the city of Perast

According to the presumptions of the archaeologists, the first settlements appeared in the area of Perast in the Neolithic. There are also monuments of the Illyrian, Roman and early Christian periods. The city was founded by the Illyrians, named after one of the local tribes - Pirusti.
