Croatia: Rovinj, Sea, Boating, Cycling - Day 3
My sister invited Nada and me to Campsite Val Saline near Rovinj in Croatia and we decided to accept the invitation.
Our last full day started with a boat trip towards the Lim bay, a 10 kilometer long estuary. The Croats sometimes also call it Limski kanal ("Lim Channel"), due to its narrow width. The estuary is sometimes called a fjord, although it is not in fact a fjord but a ria, because it was not carved by a glacier but by the river eroding the ground on its way to the Adriatic Sea, when the sea level was lower.
When the Sun lost it's power in the evening, we also did a short cycling trip towards Rovinj and on the way, we picked up a couple of GeoCaches.

View to Rovinj, that was already a settlement of Venetian or Illyrian tribes before being captured by the Romans, who called it Arupinium or Mons Rubineus, and later Ruginium and Ruvinium. Built on an island close to the coast, it became connected to the mainland much later, in 1763, by filling in the channel. |
