Slovenia: Motorcycling in Upper Carniola

We returned from Ostrava, Czech Republic, in the morning so after the breakfast Nada and me went on a motorbike and we did a short tour in the vicinity.

We visited Kropa, known for its traditional smithies, which produce a variety of decorative metal fittings. Metalworking has an ancient tradition in Kropa, with evidence of metalworks from Celtic times in the wider area and the earliest furnaces actually in Kropa from the 14th century onwards.

We continued to Železniki, used to be known for iron smelting, and its name in Slovene indicates a relation to ironworks. The first furnace was mentioned in 1422, and the original furnace was replaced in 1826 by a blast furnace that ceased operating in about 1902.

Quick motorbike trip in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola)

GeoCaches found:
- Kropa, GC27RTR, where I left trackable item "New Zealand Tiki Travel Tag", TB4NZYK
- Ferrum, GC29VRY
- Slovenia VOR/DME Series: Lima Bravo Lima (LBL), GC3VYPZ

In the afternoon I took my motorbike to a mechanic. He will change the chain and sprockets, which I obtained from ebay for 114€. I left the motorbike and with Nada we hiked back home.

Hike to local hill, Kršiše

The day wasn't over yet, so in the evening I joined my neighbour and we went bowling. Nine-pin bowling game is played in 120 throws of four lanes. On each lane there are 30 throws. On each lane there are fifteen throws on all nine pins (full) and fifteen throws where knocked down pins remain out of play until no pins are left (cleaning). Some lane systems are not advanced enough to support the cleaning stage, only allowing throws on all nine pins.
