Slovenia: Voljčev hrib, Hiking above Lake Bled and Confluence of Sava rivers

One more beautiful Sunday. Nada and me used it to explore some nice places in Gorenjska region. First we visited a hill called Voljčev hrib, that has been formed by Bohinj Glacier. Watch a very interesting video animation about The Bohinj Glacier on youtube. We moved on to Lake Bled, where we visited a few interesting lookout points. The day was finished at the location, where rivers Sava Bohinjka and Sava Dolinka meet and continue as Sava.

Standing on top of terminal moraine of Bohinj Glacier called Voljčev hrib.

Lake Bled is of mixed origins, glacial and tectonic. It came into existence after the Bohinj Glacier melted.

Towards first lookout point called Mala Osojnica.

Highest point of the day, Velika Osojnica, 756 m.
Another great spot for observing the Bled Castle with Bled Island was Ojstrica.

In Lancovo, there is a large dam on the river, which once used to supply water to the large Cajhn's saw mill. Already around 1900, a turbine was installed at the sawmill, which supplied electricity to the owners of the saw and the surrounding area.

Sava Bohinjka just before the confluence.

Confluence of rivers Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka.

Finishing the hike to the confluence that creates the river Sava - Garmin Connect.
