Slovenia: Rovnik and Snake spruce

Before lunch Nada and me did a quick hike on Rovnik. Nice circular educational trail led us on to the 707 m high summit above Zgornja Besnica. Due to its many karst phenomena, some people also call it Besniški kras. The most famous caves in the area of Rovnik are the Bidovec Hole and the Podskokar Cave, which are protected as natural values of national importance. On our way back home we also visited a special snake looking spruce, Picea abies f. virgata, a rare natural mutation of common spruce that has long, curly branches that grow irregularly in all directions.

Nice forest educational trail to Rovnik

Better than walking on red carpet

End of the hike with Tuši in the middle of the tree - Garmin Connect.

Near Jamnik we visited Snake spruce.
