Austria: Kravji vrh and Ojstrc

Mountains are beautiful all the time and today Nada and me decided to conquer two peaks in nearby Koroška / Kärnten / Carinthia in the Obir mountain range. We parked our car on Šajda saddle and we hiked to our first peak called Kravji vrh / Kuhberg, 2017 m. From there we followed the ridge towards the highest peak in the area, Ojstrc / Hochobir, 2139 m. Foggy weather at the top wasn't very pleasant, so we soon started descending. We passed by Kraguljše, 1828 m to Kapelška koča / Eisenkappler Hütte, 1553 m, which was unfortunately closed. No beer, just a quick sandwich from the backpack and we moved on past pasture Obirska planina, 1272 m, and then we returned back to our starting point.

Beautiful start of the day

Explored one of the abandoned mines on the way to the summit

Just a little bit more

Foggy and windy summit

Multi cache on top, where we found the stylish glasses

Remains of a 19th century stone building at 2042 m, known as Rainer Schutzhaus. Rainer Schutzhaus is said to have originally housed miners working high up on the mountain, but the building was also used as a weather station - one of the first in the Alps. It was destroyed during World War II.

Scenery on our way back

Easy, but quite long hike
