Georgia: Mtatsminda Park and Dezerter Bazaar: Day 10

Nada, Baki and me continued exploring Tbilisi. We only had two main goals today, visit a famous landscaped park located at the top of Mount Mtatsminda overlooking the capital and to feel the vibe on one of the largest markets in the city.

Previous days of our Georgia trip: Day 9Day 8Day 7Day 6Day 5Day 4Day 3Day 2 and Day 1.

We walked past Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani statue to Mtatsminda Pantheon.

The Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures is a necropolis in Tbilisi, where some of the most prominent writers, artists, scholars, and national heroes of Georgia are buried. Holy water can also be found here.

Another panorama of the largest Georgian city with a population of approximately 1.5 million people.

274.5 m high Tbilisi TV Broadcasting Tower at the top of the mountain is visible from far, but to get there you have to climb many stairs or just take a funicular.

Typical taxi with broken windscreen took us to the main food bazaar.

Dezerter Bazaar is an agrarian market located in close to Tbilisi Central Railway Station. Covering 2,000 square meters, it is one of the largest markets in the city. The market became known as the Dezerter Bazaar in the 1920’s because it was the place where deserting soldiers sold their weapons and equipment.

Hunger strikes again

Tasting is important.
