Slovenia: Plasma Donors, Golovec, GeoCaching
Slovenia needs an average of 300 to 350 blood donors per day to provide patients with the necessary volume of blood and today Aleš, Rok and me decided to be one of those guys. In the reception they convinced us to be plasma donors. Plasma is the clear, straw-colored liquid portion of blood that remains after red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and other cellular components are removed. It is the single largest component of human blood, comprising about 55 percent, and contains water, salts, enzymes, antibodies and other proteins.
After we finished with donating, we continued with the hike to Golovec hills (Golovec (413 m), Črni vrh (443 m) and Mazovnik (450 m)) and on our way we picked up a few GeoCaches. After Golovec hike, we also picked up D/T 5/5 (difficulty/terrain) GeoCache, where we had to use our skills of climbing and belaying.
