Slovenia: Oslica and Krka Source

Nada invited me to a small gathering of her schoolmates and I joined her. We drove to Oslica, where I met new faces. Our hosts were Nika and Janezek and other guests Leon, Vesna and Vita. As a good host, Nika cooked a nice lunch for us and after that we went to the source of Krka river. The source of the river is actually in the Krka Cave, but since there was a lot of rain lately, the entrance was totally flooded and there was no way to enter it.

Village Gradiček

The river Krka rises in a broad blind valley, at the interface of the Jurassic limestone and the Triassic dolomite formations on the karst plateau north of the village of Krka. The waters rise to the surface at the Pod jamo spring below Krška jama (cave), which is located to the north of Gradiček village. The river is strengthened in its early stages by the small karst streams of Poltarica, Lipovka, Podbukovški and Gabrovški studenec, as well as by the Višnjica stream, the only non-karst stream in the upper Krka catchment.
