Slovenia: Fixing the Charging Connector

My neighbor owns an electric bike and she damaged the charging connector. Since all brands use some dedicated connectors, that can't be purchased, the only solution available is to buy a new charger and that costs ~100 €. If you know, that connectors like this can be bought for a few €, that is totally unacceptable, so I decided to fix this myself.

A little bit of surfing on the internet took me to aliexpress and to a waterproof 4 pin connector. Magic words were "sd 20 right angle connector". I bought it for less than 4 €.

When the connector arrived I drilled a hole in the battery, so the new connector would fit in. I soldered some wires to the existing one, so the original connect remained intact and in the end I removed the damaged connector from the charger and replaced it with new one. I put everything back and the work was done.

The charger had damaged connector.

New connector from aliexpress.

Drilled a hole on the battery cover.

Placing the wires to the existing ones, so the original connector would still remain its function.

Assembling the battery back.

Once the charger was also wired, I did a quick charging test. Everything was working.

Cheat sheet.

New charger connector.

All done.
