Entering the city center of Bergen op Zoom.
Markiezenhof, a late Gothic city palace and library. |
Bronco was happy, after we found a geocache. |
This palace was built at the end of the 15th century (1485). |
Today, the Markiezenhof serves as a museum and cultural center, showcasing the history, art, and culture of Bergen op Zoom and the surrounding region.
The Grote Markt is the historic and cultural center of Bergen op Zoom, surrounded by well-preserved medieval and Renaissance-era buildings.

The Grote Markt is lined with impressive buildings, including the Stadhuis (City Hall), which features a striking façade adorned with statues and decorative elements. |
The town hall actually consists of three buildings. The left building with the gate, "de Oliphant". The actual town hall, "the aldermen's house" in the middle (the main entrance and the three windows on the left). And the building on the right, "Leeuwenborgh". The actual town hall, "the aldermen's house", is 600 years old and was built between 1398 and 1403. The building that stood before it was probably also the town hall, but it was lost in the city fire of 1397. |
Quiet town with nice streets.
Leaving the city centre. |
Entering Vlaanderen / Flandrija / Flanders, a Dutch-speaking northern portion of Belgium and here we located an interesting geocache location. |
I was in this bar more than 10 years ago with my friend Grega. In 2007 to be exact. Delirium Café holds the Guinness World Record for the most beers offered with 2004, obtained in 2004. |

Jeanneke Pis (Dutch for "Little Pissing Joan") is a modern fountain sculpture in central Brussels. It was commissioned by Denis-Adrien Debouvrie in 1985 and erected in 1987 as a counterpoint to the city's famous Manneken Pis. |
Let's have something sweet.

Dune du Perroquet / Parrot Dune. |
The cliffs of Cap Gris-Nez are made of sandstone, clay, and chalk. They are mainly grey in colour, which gives the cape its name. |
It is also a popular place to collect fossils, which are mainly from the Jurassic period. |
The cliffs of the Cape are the closest point of France to England, 34 km from their English counterparts at Dover. We noticed that, when we walked near the sea and our phones switched to English operator, immediately draining our phone budget. |
Bronco's new friends. |
The 31 meter high cylindrical concrete lighthouse at Cap Gris-Nez dates from 1958. The lighthouse and its accompanying radar station provide guidance to over 500 ships passing the cape every day. |
Good, that we took some tools for the trip.
