Germany / Netherlands: From North Rhine-Westphalia to Netherlands
In the morning we Bronco and me went for a walk (Garmin Connect) to nearby Biggetalsperre / Biggesee, a reservoir that serves to regulate the rivers Ruhr and Lenne. Upon our return we had a breakfast with Thilo's family and then we said goodbye and we started driving, direction Duisburg. In the city we visited Nada's uncle and his family and we had lunch together. Since there was still a few hours of daylight in front of us, we decided to drive a few more hours, until we reached Netherlands and we parked our van near the city called Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht.
Previous days of our road trip to Bayern - Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Netherlands, Belgium, Hauts-de-France, Normandie - Normandy, Bretagne - Brittany, Pays de la Loire, Centre-Val de Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand Est and Rhineland-Palatinate: Day 3 - 16047, Day 2 - 16046, Day 1 - 16045.

The Biggesee lake serves primarily to store water for the Ruhrgebiet so as to maintain the same level of water in the Ruhr. The lake can deliver, via the rivers Bigge and Lenne, up to 40% of all the water supplied by all the reservoirs in the river system of the Ruhr combined. A hydroelectric power station produces around 24 million kWh electricity annually. The power of the three large and one small Francis turbines amounts to 17.52 MW. |

Cheers to our interior.
Bronco wanted to see Tiger and Turtle, an art installation built in 2011.
The top wasn't accessible for us, so we continued with the walk back to the city - Garmin Connect. |
