Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Planjava pri Kamniškem vrhu and Orlek Concert
Wind from the West was approaching Slovenia, but Rok and me decided to do a quick hike & fly trip, before it would reach us. We drove to Stahovica and hiked to Planjava pri Kamniškem vrhu, 1243 m. It was a beautiful sunny day at the top, so we slowly prepared our gliders and when the conditions were good, we took off. In the air we had a totally different story. The westerly wind was already blowing and from time to time we did't know if were were navigating the glider or glider was navigating us. Sometimes we even flew backwards. When we approached the landing site at the lower altitude, the conditions slightly improved, so we quickly landed to the safe mother Earth.
In the evening Nada and me attended the Orlek concert in Loški Pub in Škofja Loka. We arrived early for dinner and then it was time for rock and roll.
It was a beautiful day in the mountains. |
Changing the sweaty clothes. |
Panorama from the top. No sign of the wind from the west. |
Landing site is big enough, although it is spiked with electricity poles |
This time I just waited to land as soon as possible |
Hiking from Stahovica to Planjava pri Kamniškem vrhu and flying back to the valley.
Dinner time in medieval ambiance restaurant "Gostilna Kašča".
After we got the tickets we started warming up.
The Orlek group is based in Zagorje ob Savi, in the heart of the mining area in the center of Slovenia. The name Orlek comes from the name of the hill at the very edge of Zagorje. |
Their music is a mixture of rock’n’roll, a kind of "folk punk polka rock". |
A variegated instrumental ensemble which, besides traditional rock instruments, also uses a brass section and an accordion, which places them into the ethnic folk music category. Their specialties are texts with social and humorous contents, rich in many expressions typical of the hard work and life of a miner. |
In 2019, the band celebrates its 30th anniversary. |
