Slovenia: Kamnik, Old Castle, Potok and SPA in Snovik
This easy Sunday Nada and me explored the Kamnik area. First we visited the city and we explored some of the Plečnik's buildings. Afterwards we did the hike to Kamnik Old Castle, built in 12th century by Andechs Counts. We finished the day in SPA in Snovik, just after we tested the water from a local spring in nearby Potok.
The Kamnik railway station was completed in 1940 and 1941. |
Jože Plečnik (23 January 1872 - 7 January 1957) was a Slovene architect who had a major impact on the modern architecture of Slovenia and Prague. This building was designed by Vinko Glaz, Plečnik's student. |

Short hike to steep hill called Krniška gora, 585 m, where the castle was build in 12th century.
Small replika of "Aljažev stolp" tower near the ruins of the castle. |
In 1511 the castle was badly damaged by an earthquake however, and has been in irreparable decline ever since. |

It happens to be one of the oldest castles in Upper Carnolia.
