Canada: Day 4 - Elk Mountain and Mount Thurston

Rok and me were spending our vacation in BCCanada. Finally we were able to get out in the mountains and Nataša was kind enough in the morning to drive us to our starting point. For the uverture we chose the Elk-Thurston trail and since we didn't want to return back on the same way, we decided to prolong it to Chilliwack Community Forest. From there we hitch-hiked back to Chilliwack. Our host Nataša still thinks we walked all the way back and if she reads this blog, she will know the truth now. In Chilliwack, we visited one of the few open bars, had a couple of beers and then we went home, where we made some burgers.

Previous days of our trip to CanadaDay 3Day 2 and Day 1.

Today the sky cleared up

On the ridge towards Elk Mountain

Great take-off site for paragliding. Maybe next time.

Rok and Tuši on top of Elk Mountain, 1432 m.

We followed the ridge and picked up a few berries on the way to Mount Thurston. Bears were not happy, but we were hungry too.

Mixture of sunny and cloudy

The top of Mount Thurston, 1626 m, where the view is non-existent. All you can see is the trees and other vegetation.

Resting on our way back to the valley

Our new one-pod made a fantastic photo. One-pod will soon be available in you local stores.

It was nice to walk on soft soil

6 more kilometers

We were alone the whole way. Even bears avoided us.

All the time we descended in the forest, so we had no view at all.

Finally near our destination, Chilliwack Community Forest, with a network of trails for hikers and mountain bikers.

Beer after the hike

The work is easier with a beer

Preparing the dinner
