Austria: Backcountry Skiing - Kleine Ankogel
Tadej, Nada and me decided to spend two days skiing in Austria. For the first day Tadej and me paid the most expensive one way ticket for the cable car - 29 €, that took us to Ankogelbahn Bergstation, from where we ascended to Kleine Ankogel, 3096 m. From the top we skied to Böckstein in the valley of Bad Gastein, 2000 meters lower. We boarded the train, that took us through the tunnel back to Mallnitz. We had an awesome skiing day.
We had a great day ahead |
Just a few skiers ahead |
White fairyland |
Ankogel will be conquered in next attempt |
My ride |
Start of all the fun is where the skis are. From Kleiner Ankogel a steep couloir leads down towards the north-west. |
Down and left into the valley |
Tadej arrived |
My curves |
Long valley |
Tadej in action |
The heaviest part was behind us |
At this point the muscles were burning |
Last section was skiing through the forest and on the roads
From Obere Radeck Alm (Upper), 1701 m down to Untere Radeck Alm (Lower), 1573 m you can still ski comfortably. |
Radeck-Alm - No beer here |
Last section leads you next to some icy waterfalls to Böckstein, 1200 m.
Awesome skiing day that takes you from Carinthia over 3000 meter high peak to Salzburg state and through the tunnel back.
