Austria: Hike to Grlovec

Today Nada and me decided to conquer a new nearby peak, quite unknown to the Slovenes, called Grlovec. If the NW slopes of Ferlacher Horn / Grlovec are almost vertical, falling down in Kotla ravine, the other side is more gentle, covered with woods almost to the baldy, grassy summit. We chose the ascent from an in called Deutscher Peter and on our way up we also made a short detour over the Oselca / Eselsattel saddle.

Oselca saddle and reminder, how a poaching ended badly in 1921, where 2 young poachers were caught. One, 20-year-old Folti was killed by a head shot, while the other escaped uninjured. (from a book "Rosentaler Wanderschritte" by Hans M. Tuschar)

Fog stayed in the valley, while we enjoyed in the sun

Amazing view from the top of Grlovec, 1840 m

It serves also as a take off site for paragliders

High above the sea

Autumn is here

Back in the forest
