Slovenia: New Lab Enviroment & Theatre

Our lab enviroment changed a bit for a while and along with a modern Agilent Oscilloscope we placed an old Phonograph. I found some old records at home, much older than me and the atmosphere and effectiveness in the lab improved significantly.

Leap in Technology

In the evening Nada and me decided to go to a theatre, to see a play called Pavla nad prepadom (Pavla Above the Precipice).

Entrance ticket for Mladinsko Theatre, established in 1955 as the first professional theatre for children and youth in Slovenia.

From Mladinsko theatre page:

Pavla Above the Precipice

Inspired by the life of the mountain climber Pavla Jesih

The text is based on a true stroy, while the characterisation is fictional.

Description

Pavla Above the Precipice is inspired by the life of mountain climber Pavla Jesih. The text for the play was written by Andrej E. Skubic, translator, playwright and novelist, who enthralled us with his numerous novels.

For Pavla Jesih, the mountains were that world where she could feel independent. Together with men co-climbers, she climbed a lot of new routes in the Slovenian mountains, and she was mostly the first climber in a roped party. In 1933, her mountaineering activities were interrupted by a serious accident at Mount Velika Mojstrovka.

Therefore, she focused on cinema. She had spread the network of cinemas from Celje and Ptuj to Ljubljana, and already before the Second World War she became the owner of the famous Matica cinema, located in the building of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Ljubljana, and the cinemas in Celje and Ptuj. Her last wish that her ashes would be scattered over the wall of Mount Špik did not come true. Now she climbs in the theatre...

Trailer for the play

My opinion: The play was very good and a very good positive surprise, since lately, all we receive are stand up acts that repeat the topic for the whole show.
