Slovenia: GeoCaching in Krim - Krim trail: "Angry bear"

After the Aviat NY party it was time to catch some fresh air and with Nada we decided to go GeoCaching. Krim trail: "Angry bear" was our choice, with 27 GeoCaches and an extra bonus, additionally also 817 altitude difference.

About the trail:
The path will lead you from Podpeč lake (Jezero), through Ledena Jama and Planinca to Krim. For the way up you will need about 2h 30min of walking.

Krim is 1107 m high mountain on the southern outskirts of the Ljubljana moor. Due to its location and shape is one of the most recognizable mountains in the vicinity of the Ljubljana basin, which annually attracts over thousands of mountaineers and hikers. In the mid-seventies JLA built a radio centre on top, which was the reason why the top was long closed to the public. Since 1991, the top re-opened to visitors. There is also a mountain hut on top, which is open from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays).

In winter days, when fog and low cloud dominates several weeks in the Ljubljana basin, the trip to the Krim is nearest point where you can find the sun. He was given the nickname Ljubljana weather prophet, because the cloud or so called "Cap" around the top predicted bad weather for the surrounding villages. From the top there is a beautiful view of the Ljubljana moor, Karawanks, Kamnik-Savinja Alps and also part of the Julian Alps.

Logging a GeoCache

We also visited an Ice cave (Ledena jama) and a local church, dedicated to Saint Thomas that was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1386, but was in a ruined condition until it was reconstructed in 1989.

To find a cache, you sometimes also need to climb to a tree

In the end we found 25 GeoCaches, 3 less than expected. The area on top was already covered with snow, so we will come back next time.
