Slovenia: Colostrum
Colostrum is the first milk produced by mammals in the days immediately after giving birth. It is rich in proteins, antibodies, vitamins, and growth factors, providing essential nutrients and immune support for newborns. In many rural traditions, fresh cow colostrum is baked into a custard-like dessert, valued for its unique texture, rich flavor, and nutritional benefits. I tried it a long time ago, and when the opportunity came up today, I didn’t miss it - and it was delicious. Thanks to Olga and Klemen for inviting us.
