Slovenia: Pankrti

After work, Nada, Bronco and me conquered Prelaz Ljubelj mountain pass (Garmin Connect) and then we were getting ready for the evening concert in Ljubljana.

Pankrti (The Bastards in Slovene) are a punk rock band from Ljubljana, active in the late 1970s and 1980s. They were known for provocative and political songs. They billed themselves as The First Punk Band Behind The Iron Curtain (one of their songs was titled, Behind the iron curtain old broads pull red beet). They are one of the most important former Yugoslav punk groups and one of the first punk rock bands ever formed in a communist country.

For their 45th anniversary a group from our village gathered and Mojca drove us with the van to Hala Tivoli. Breda, DJ, Grega, Ana, Mićo, Nada, Mojca and Tuši became young punkers again and we all loved it.

Ticket for the concert.

We were close to the first row.

Davor Gobac from Psihomodo Pop  was one of the guests.

Tuši, Aleš, Ana and Nada.

Davor stayed on stage for 3 songs, Ja volim samo sebe, Suzy Is a Headbanger and Totalna revolucija.

The band started playing in the fall of 1977, practicing in the basement of Kodeljevo's music school, and held their first concert at Moste General middle School. Initially, they played covers of established punk bands including the Sex Pistols, The Clash and New York Dolls. Some of the first original songs by the band that became popular were: "Za železno zaveso" (Behind The Iron Curtain), "Anarhist" (Anarchist), and "Lublana je bulana" (Ljubljana is Sick).

25 years ago in 1997 we organized a concert for our graduation trip in dvorana Primskovo in Kranj and the frontmen of Pankrti Peter Lovšin was our main guest.

We finished around midnight and you can find the setlist here - setlist.fm.
