CroatiaRab, Day 2 - Boat trip to Dolin and Rab

Nada and me decided to have a weekend off on the seaside, destination island Rab. In the morning we did a quick tour on the north of the island and then we joined my sister's family in Banjol. With nephews we tested the boat and visited island Dolin. In the evening they lend us the bikes and with Nada we explored the city of Rab.

The Rab town has a long history that dates back to 360 BC when it was inhabited by the Illyrians. The island was the frontier between the regions of Liburnia and Dalmatia. From the third century BC to the sixth century AD Rab was part of the Roman Empire, and Emperor Augustus proclaimed it a municipium in 10 BC. It was the first town of Roman Dalmatia to be given the honorary title "felix".

The Adriatic contains over 1300 islands, mostly located along the Croatian part of its eastern coast.

Benedictine Monastery of St. Andrew has been in use since the early 11th century with the three-nave church. St. Andrew's bell tower is the oldest on the island.

Dating from the 12th century, the St. Mary's campanile is Rab’s tallest bell tower and one of the most beautiful on the entire Croatian coast. In front stands the statue of Saint Christopher.

Nada and Tuši visited seaside again.
