STKP stands for Slovenian Mountain Bike Route and with Nada we decided to cycle part of it during this so called Potato holidays. The whole route consists of 111 checkpoints and is around 1800 kilometres long with 50000 ascend meters.
In the morning we had ham and eggs for breakfast in Mariborska koča mountain hut (checkpoint 83), 1086 m, and then we started cycling towards our next checkpoint Ruška koča na Arehu mountain hut, 1246 m (checkpoint 84). We decided to warm ourselves with the tea and then we moved on. Without the GPS track it would be difficult to navigate on Pohorje and since some parts of the track were missing we had to improvise from time to time and also push our bikes. Dom na Osankarici, 1193 m (checkpoint 85) came quick and we had another tea. The road went slowly up and down all the time and for lunch we came to Koča na Pesku mountain hut, 1386 m (checkpoint 86). After lunch we put our clothes on and descended to Koča na Pesniku mountain hut, 1101 m (checkpoint 87), where we just put stamps in our logbooks and continued to the last hut, Ribniška koča mountain hut, 1507 m (checkpoint 88), our highest point of the day. We decided to have dinner there and stay over the night.
