Slovenia: Palec, Zelenjak and Vrtača with Šuštarska nedelja (Cobbler's Sunday)

After a long Saturday we decided to have a hiking Sunday. Rok, Gašper, Boštjan, John, Nada and me started from Ljubelj over Zelenica to Suho ruševje. From there we conquered the first peak, called Palec, 2026 m and we used the same way to return back to Suho ruševje. Our second peak was Zelenjak, 2024 m. Nada left us there, while we continued to our last peak, Vrtača, 2181 m. The path here was a little more difficult, still not to much. We descended on SE ridge back to Dom na Zelenici mountain hut, 1536 m, where we met some of our fans. After a beer / radler we returned back to the valley and continued to the event called Šuštarska nedelja (Cobbler's Sunday).

Our peaks: Vrtača in the middle and Zelenjak next to her, while Palec is hidden more to the right.

On top of our fist peak, Palec

View from the top to our next two peaks. Vrtača will be conquered over the highest point of the scree through left side of the Y shaped rock.

At this point Nada said goodbye to us while we continued

Approaching the most difficult part, which was much easier than I thought

We made it

Vrtača, 2181 m, the highest point of the day

We decided to descend on unmarked track, SE ridge

Running towards the beer

Group photo with our fans: Nada, Primož, Danica, Gašper, Tuši, Rok, Boštjan, John and Meta.

Another beautiful hike with 3 2000 meter high peaks

Cobblers' Sunday is the most popular event in Tržič. In addition to offering some favourable shoe shopping, this also offers a series of cultural, entertainment and ethnographic events and demonstrations of old crafts. We didn't buy anything special, except some beers and food. Some were attempting to climb on a maypole.
