Slovenia: Cycling around Dolenjska

With Nada I used the Sunday for cycling in Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) region and we decided to find a couple of geocaches on the way. We started from Novo mesto and continued on the hilly area towards Kostanjevica na Krki and then on the shortest and flat way back.

Our first cache of the day next to St. Mathias church in Zajčji Vrh.

Not the best bicycle for this terrain

Pleterje Charterhouse, a Carthusian monastery, or charterhouse, in the village of Drča near Šentjernej in Slovenia, the only extant monastery of that order in the country.

River Krka at our farthest point

Crossing the bridge to an island in the Krka River, also called the "Venice of Lower Carniola"

New adventure for Black Beauty

Our last geocache took us to an old Willow tree, known as Napoleon's willow. It is known from oral tradition the willow was planted in early 19th century under Napoleon to unknown soldier grave. Interesting tree has unusual growth, thick trunk and testifying value.

Geocaches found:
- Zajčji Vrh, GC4VDBV
- E7_SLO_91, GC3P895
- Old willow tribute, GC47T5F
