Slovenia: Natural window Otliško okno
Prešeren Day, the Slovene Cultural Holiday, is a free day and Nada, Bronco and me decided to visit The Otlica window, a karst natural bridge located north of Ajdovščina on the edge of the Trnovo Forest Plateau near the village of Otlica.
Legend has it that the window in the rock was created as the Devil stumbled when he couldn’t shoulder the load he was wearing. As he fell, his horn punctured the rock, leaving a hole.

Time for a break and a geocache.
Our paths separated. I continued through the small Otlica window, while Nada and Bronco remain on the marked trail.
My path led me right trough the The Otlica Window (Otliško okno),a natural bridge that was created in the wake of an intense tectonic fault. The twelve-metre-tall and seven-metre-wide orifice is the product of weathering and erosion of bedrock.

One more geocache and we continued with our hike on the edge of the Trnovo Forest Plateau.

| The first mentions of Ajdovščina go back to circa 2000 BC. In the Bronze Age and the Iron Age a fortified settlement stood on the nearby hill of Gradišče. |
From "Wajdouski razglednik" we started descending back to the valley.

Our hike will soon be finished.
