Slovenia: MTB - Bistriška planina and Sergo #8

8th memorial cycling for Sergo was on today and I decided to participate. As usual, the destination was mountain pasture Bistriška planina, where we had a little longer pause and then we descended over the Rock'n'roll trail to Ravne. On the way back to our starting point we lit the candle at the cemetery.

Previous memorial rides: Sergo #7, Sergo #6.

A little bit of rain on the way didn't stop us.

Slovenia: MTB - Radovljica Training

Radovljica training was the name of the exam ride for MTB guide of my schoolmate from mountain bike course Tim. He also invited me to help him with guiding and I said why not. Since Nada took our car, I rode to the starting point in Radovljica with my bike. Soon everyone arrived and we started biking. The pace was quite strong, but that's why the name of the route was training. We followed Tim to Jelovica plateau, to pasture Danejeva planina, where we had a short break, before the descent. With 2 flat tires we managed to reach the Sava river, that we followed back to our starting point. After the beer for a (hardly) successfully passed ride I rode back home - Garmin Connect.

Break at Danejeva planina mountain pasture at 1090 m.

View to the Karawanks and Sava valley.

First stop for flat tire at chapel Na Koren.

It's fun as long as it doesn't happen to you.

Second flat, but we fixed that too.

Slovenia: Potočnikova planina

Bronco and me did another hike straight from our front door. We used some old forest roads and azimuth approach straight towards abandoned mountain pasture Potočnikova planina - Garmin Connect. We liked the route, so we will definitely use it again.

Straight up.

Arrived to abandoned mountain pasture Potočnikova planina, 1410 m.

Croatia: Summer Vacation, Day 16: Veli Brig - Sveti Juraj - Ledenik

Veli Brig, Sveti Juraj and Ledenik are 3 peaks on island Pag and we connected them on our hike, where we enjoyed the view and smell of the Adriatic.

Previous days of our Summer Vacation 2024: Day 15 - 16220, Day 14 - 16219, Day 13 - 16218, Day 12 - 16217, Day 11 - 16216, Day 10 - 16215, Day 9 - 16214, Day 8 - 16213, Day 7 - 16212, Day 6 - 16211, Day 5 - 16210,  Day 4 - 16209, Day 3 - 16208, Day 2 - 16207 and Day 1 - 16206.

Steeper sections were covered with concrete.

View from our first peak, Veli Brig, 263 m.

Somebody is watching us.

Medieval Pag emerged near the salterns where the abandoned Old Town used to be, 3 kilometres south of the present location. According to historical documents, the name Pag was mentioned for the first time in the 10th century.

The name "Sveti Juraj" (St. George) is a common name for peaks and churches in Croatia. It was also the name of our second peak.

There is something interesting down there.

Croatia: Summer Vacation, Day 15: Sveti Vid

Sveti Vid is the highest peak on the island of Pag. It rises to an elevation of 348 meters and offers panoramic views of the island, the surrounding Adriatic Sea, and the nearby Velebit mountain range on the mainland. At the summit, there is a small chapel dedicated to Saint Vitus (Sveti Vid), after whom the peak is named. Since we haven't hiked for a few days now, Nada, Bronco and me decided to conquer it.

Previous days of our Summer Vacation 2024: Day 14 - 16219, Day 13 - 16218, Day 12 - 16217, Day 11 - 16216, Day 10 - 16215, Day 9 - 16214, Day 8 - 16213, Day 7 - 16212, Day 6 - 16211, Day 5 - 16210,  Day 4 - 16209, Day 3 - 16208, Day 2 - 16207 and Day 1 - 16206.

I think Bronco already mentioned, he doesn't like sharp rocks.

Rocky ground and low vegetation.

The vegetation on Pag is characterized by hardy, drought-resistant plants that thrive in rocky soil and can withstand strong winds and dry conditions.

Bronco, what do you see?

We accessed the top from Šimuni - Garmin Connect.
