Austria: Backcountry Skiing - Mosermandl

Our neighbouring country Austria still has some nice amounts of snow, so Janez, Boštjan, Tomaž and me decided to check if it is true. Our destination was Mosermandl. We drove to Wald, where we parked our car and we immediately put on our skis. At first we walked on a flat terrain but soon the fun began and we were gaining altitude with every step. After a while, the snow disappeared, as it was blown away by the wind, so we continued on foot. As we were approaching the summit, the conditions became dangerous for avalanches, we were also tired, so at around 100 meters below top, we decided that it is time to turn around. We put on our skis and smiles on our faces and rushed back to the valley, to a well deserved beer.

Winter fairytale.

Boštjan took the lead.

Area with blown away snow.

Damn, it is still far.

Short break.

Looking over the shoulder.

Final meters, before we decided to stop. The summit will be conquered next time.

Well, that was me. Simply awesome.

Can't describe this feeling with words.

Everyone had a big smile on their face.

Tired from going up, tired from going down - we needed a short break from time to time.

Slovenia: Exploring Lom Valley

Our local sports club ŠD Podljubelj prepared a list of hiking adventures and one of them is to hike through the Lom Valley. Nada, Bronco and me started near abandoned restaurant Pr' Krvin and soon we were in a settlement called Lom pod Storžičem. We continued through Grahovše all the way to Dom pod Storžičem mountain hut. We used the same way to returned back. Well, almost.

After the start at the ex restaurant, Bronco lead our way.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Vrh Ljubeljščice

We received a new portion of fresh snow and once more I did a quick backcountry skiing trip before work. Vrh Ljubeljščice is always a good choice and I had some great skiing on fresh snow on my way back to the valley.

Dom na Zelenici mountain hut and "4 men" in the sun covered with fresh snow.

Good morning.

Fog in Austria and perfect conditions for skiing in Slovenia.

Well, the left one was me - Garmin Connect.

Slovenia: Vzpon do zlata - The Wall – Climb for Gold

16th mountaineering film festival (Festival gorniškega filma) offered some nice movies and Nada and me decided to watch the movie The Wall: Climb for Gold (Vzpon do zlata) in Radovljica for Valentine's day. It is about four female climbers facing the sporting challenge of a lifetime as they attempt to compete in the first ever Olympic climbing competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Wall - Climb for Gold follows four elite climbers, Janja Garnbret, Shauna Coxsey, Brooke Raboutou, and Miho Nonaka, over an extraordinary two years.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Stol & Valentine's Dinner

8th traditional hike to Stol should occur in 2021, but it was postponed to 2022. This year only Rok and me were interested in a hike, so we also took our wings with us. We had nice conditions for hiking and later on also for flying, so we landed near our pearl Lake Bled, where Nada picked us up.

In the evening, Nada and me decided to have a day early Valentine's dinner at Karavla 297. Once more we had a great food with superb flavours.

Just after the take off.

Amazing view to the Julian Alps with small clouds.

Lake Bled with an island and a medieval castle.

Our highest mountain and the upper valley of our longest river.

Start of the Valentine's dinner. As usual, we forgot to take a picture of the first course in time.

You just have to taste it.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Begunjščica

As a part of ŠD Podljubelj's hiking adventures, some include hiking with crampons and an ice-axe, paragliding and conquering a peak above 2000 meters. I simply joined 3 tasks in a single one, but a little more challenging one. First I hiked to Zelenica, where I put on the crampons and an ice axe. Then I climbed through NW ravine to the NW ridge and soon I was on top of Begunjščica. I spread my wing and flew back home.

Below and on top of SW ravine.

View to Stol and Vrtača.

Finally reached the summit, from where I could also see Triglav.

Some tourists joined me on top.

Just below the summit I prepared my glider.

This is how Bronco waits for me, while I fly above my village.

Bronco patiently waiting for me.

Approaching the landing site.

Just a few meters more.

And touch down - Garmin Connect.

My fans, Nada and Bronco, are coming.
