Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Vrtača

A little more challenging skiing was on the menu today. We decided to conquer Vrtača and if the conditions will allow, ski from the peak. First we had a nice long approach and for the last section we put on our crampons and ice axes. At one point only Bađo and me decided to continue with skies, while others left them below the steepest part. The conditions were not as good as we thought, but we decided to give it a try. On the windy peak we quickly took some photos and then Bađo decided, that we will ski down on right part of Y gully, IV, S6, 350m. First few meters were awesome but then we ran into the icy 100 meters, that we carefully passed. From that point on, we had big smiles on our faces all the way to the valley and a few beers and a barbecue for the end made our day perfect.

Warming up in Suho ruševje.

We continued with crampons and ice axes.

Nature and it's shapes.

The wind playing with snow.

Just another perfect day.

Another wish came true - skiing from Vrtača 2181 m.
