Czech Republic / Austria: The last day in Czech Republic
Previous days of our Czech cycling trip: Day 11, Day 10, Day 9, Day 8, Day 7, Day 6, Day 5, Day 4, Day 3, Day 2, Day 1.
We were passing by St. Norbert Church (Kostel sv. Norberta) towards Cathedral of St Lawrence and Petřín Lookout Tower.
We decided to visit the Petřín Lookout Tower, a steel-framework tower.
When you are standing on the top of the Petřín Lookout Tower, you are higher than if you were on the more famous Eiffel Tower. |
Amazing view to Prague and Vltava. |
In 1889, members of the Club of Czech Tourists visited the world exposition in Paris and were inspired by the Eiffel Tower. They collected a sufficient amount of money and in March 1891 the building of the tower started for the World's Jubilee Exhibition. It was finished in only four months. |
Tuši and Nada in Petřínská rozhledna. |
Another look, before descending back to the ground level. |
On a clear day it is possible to see the highest peak in the Czech Republic, Sněžka, 150km away. |
Chillin' on Petřín Hill.
Leaving the Petřín hill.
130 vertical meters down to Vltava river.
DH terrain. |
Monument dedicated to Karel Hynek Mácha, a Czech romantic poet.
Trdlo time. |
Near Charles Bridge, the most famous bridge on Vltava.
Last lunch on our vacation.
Rummy in Vojan Gardens (Vojanovy sady). |
We crossed the Vltava river to the right bank. |
What's the time? |
Hybernia Theatre (Divadlo Hybernia) on our way out of city centre.
After a few beers in the Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady) with our friends, we entered the bus, direction South.
Our vacation in Czech Republic ended. |
