Slovenia: Sledding Competition - Savske Jame

Third sledding competition for the Cup of Slovenia took place in Savske jame in a village Planina pod Golico. We had some fresh snow on the track, so the conditions were unpredictable. My friend Klemen had very fast sleds and he beat us all. 3rd place for me this time.

Previous competitions: 1st - 15963, 2nd - 15973.

 

Klemen was the overall winner and we won a as sports club.

Slovenia: Prelaz Ljubelj

It was a normal Thursday and Nada, Bronco and me decided to do a quick hike before work. As usual, we conquered nearby Prelaz Ljubelj - Garmin Connect.

Šentanska dolina valley is also our home.

Back home, we received new unique cups.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Sveti Lovrenc / St. Lawrence

St. Lovrenc church is one of the oldest in the area. The first mention dates back to around 1157 and was expanded and restored several times during its long history. This Sunday, Nada, Bronco and me did a short hike from Bašelj to the church, from where I flew back to the valley, while Nada and Bronco followed me on foot.

After the successful landing (Garmin Connect), we checked the place with burgers in Kranj.

 

In the afternoon, we joined our neighbours. We watched the closing ceremony of last race in sledding on natural tracks. Our guys won 3rd place overall in doubles and we were 3rd in nations cup. Congratulations.

Slovenia: Nanos

One of this year's tasks from our local sports society is a hike to Nanos. We chose it for today's quest, since it lies closer to the sea, and we expected warmer climate, but we were wrong. As soon as we reached the eastern side of the karst plateau, the wind show its strength, so we had just one quick drink at the improvised bar outside the Vojkova koča hut and then we headed back to the valley - Garmin Connect.

Bronco easily managed over some difficult rocky parts.

We took the steep route for the ascent.

We thought it will be warmer here, but we were wrong.

The hut was being renovated, so we had a quick tea outside.

Returning back to the valley.

 

It became warmer in the forest, so we were able to make some photos.

One of the first wind turbines in Slovenia, 900 kW, lies below Nanos.

In the evening, we watched our neighbours competing on FIL Luge World Cup on Natural Track.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Begunjščica with Valentine's Day Dinner

After the meeting I took my backpack with my wing and from Ljubelj I hiked through central ravine to the top of Begunjščica. It was a nice calm day, so it was easy to take off from the peak and land just behind my home, where Nada and Bronco welcomed my landing. Since it was Valentine's day, Nada and me went out and once more we had a superb dinner at Karavla 297.
