Slovenia: Weekly Hike: Mala Poljana, Grebenc, Velika Poljana, Caving in Rakov Škocjan

Our sport and cultural society ŠKD Indijanci went on a thirty-second morning hike (42nd overall). We started with the hike at 2:30 a.m. from Zalog and in less then 2 hours we reached our first destination, Mala Poljana, 1325 m. From there it was not far to the nearest peak, Grebenc, 1479 m and even less to our last destination, Velika Poljana, 1410 m. We returned to Zalog via nice circular route.

The valley was still sleeping. Photo from Mala Poljana.

After work our co-worker Aleš took us caving in Rakov Škocjan. Our goal was to explore Zelške caves, but someone gave Aleš the wrong keys, so we couldn't enter, nevertheless we went into nearby Tkalca jama (Weaver's Cave) and after 2 hours of exploring the underground world we came out and we had a nice picnic near the Rak Creek.

Fridge for our beers and meat was close to Little Natural Bridge.
