Bosnia and Herzegovina: MTB trip with AO Tržič - Lakes of Zelengora

Our local Mountaineering Society AO Tržič organizes a mountain biking trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2015 and this year's destination was Zelengora.

On our 2nd day on the mountain, we decided to explore the lakes of the area. We visited 4 of them and then the rain caught us, so we shortened our ride a little bit. In the evening we visited Kalinovik and attended the graduation parade.

Previous days of this trip: Day2 - 15716, Day 1 - 15715.
Previous MTB Trips with AO Tržič: 1. 2015 (13161, 13162, 13163), 2. 2016 (13518), 3. 2017 (13889, 13890, 13891),  4. 2018 (142531425414255), 6. 2020 (14997), 7. 2021 (1535315354).

Good morning.

Morning coffee.

Our first lake that we visited was Orlovačko jezero.

My Black Mamba, Orlovačko jezero and a peak called Orlovac, 1962 m.

Time for a swim. The water was surprisingly warm.

Janez in the lake.

Drying time.

We continued riding, but it started to rain.

Our group separated and some of us decided to continue.

Today we spotted a few cars, still we were mostly alone with the green colour of Zelengora.

Our group separated again. Some wanted to visit the horses and a caravan in the hope of getting some coffee.

Good for them, they were successful.

Jaka and me decided to make a loop around the Kalelija, 1977 m, and soon we spotted another lake, Kotlaničko jezero.

Crossing the snow.

Štirinsko Jezero / Штиринско Језеро / Štirinsko Lake is the largest of the lakes on the Zelengora mountain. It is about 600 m long, about 350 m wide, and its greatest depth is 4.5 m.

Jaka on the downhill section, before we missed the trail a few times.

The last lake, that we saw is called Jugovo jezero and is the only artificial lake on Zelengora.

While the first group already returned back home, we were still in the saddle.

Domestic animals.

After the beer in one of the populated houses and after the rainy shower we also headed back home - Garmin Connect.

Minor repairs.

Our security guard.

In the evening we attended the graduation parade in Kalinovik.

Beer for 2 KM was delicious, while the monument dedicated to Bosnian Serb Army General Ratko Mladić, that was born in nearby village, probably isn't a good attraction for some people.

Time to say good night.
