Slovenia: Summer basketball season ended

The days are shorter and colder and we decided to have a last outdoor basketball game in Podljubelj, Karavla 297. With October, we are throwing the ball through hoops indoors.

 

I finished the last game at half time. The shoe just fell apart.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly & Climb - Kofce gora and Vipava

Rok and Jernej came to my place at 6 a.m. in the morning. We drove to Matizovec high mountain farm and from there we started hiking over Kofce to Kofce gora, 1967 m. At around 8 a.m. we spread our gliders and soon we were all in the air, flying to Podljubelj. For the afternoon, Nada, Bronco and me drove to Vipava, where Tim, Aleš and me decided to climb a few easy pitches.

With a scenery like this, you know that getting up early isn't such a bad idea.

I had some difficulties on a little harder route, but Bronco and Nada were so supportive, that I managed to reach the top.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Gontarska planina

After work I picked up a geocache near Goričane mansion and then I continued to village Sora, where I met with Rok. Together we drove to Trnovec, from where we started our hike to Gontarska planina. At the top we spread our wings, waited for a while and we were good to fly back down.

The baroque Mansion Goričane is located in the Goričane village near Medvode. In 1641, after the collapse of the castle Goričane, Bishop Otto Buckheim decided to build a new building. It was completed in 1644 using materials from Goričane Castle, which stood just above the site and of which only a few foundation stones are visible.

Slovenia: Just Another Tuesday

Working from home has its benefits, as you can have a lunch break outside in the nature and your dog can simply join you. And when you're done with the work, you can simply step outside and play a match of basketball.

Slovenia / Austria: Sunday Moto Trip

Today I decided to do a motorbike ride over Jezerski vrh saddle to Koroška and then over Ljubelj back to Slovenia. On the way I stopped a few times and picked up a few geocaches.

Quick stop before the border.

A huge rock with the image of St. Christopher in supernatural size - Christophorusfelsen - Krištofova peč. In 1861, carters from the Bela Valley first painted a 12-meter-high image of a martyr and protector of carters.

Over Krka (Gurk) river. It is the longest river running entirely within Carinthia.

Slovenia: MTB 4P DETLCA

Matic invited me to a local event in Mengeš, where local guys ride the Rašica trails. The task is quite simple, you have to conquer Rašica 4 times and on the way down, locals lead you on amazing trails. As every good sport event, also this one ended with a picnic. Thanks for inviting me.

Our first ascent to Debeli vrh, from where we did the Kobilca trail.

After 2nd ascent to Rašica we did the Črna Rt trail, we ascended one more time for Limina trail and then finally arrived for the forth time to Rašica.

Locals took us to the new trail, still unnamed.

Slovenia: Cycling to Nova Gorica

Cycling to Nova Gorica has become a tradition. Usually we cycle there in Spring, but this year we postponed it till the middle of September. Only Grega, Vlado and me had the courage for cycling this year, still we had a great time for the whole 122 kilometres.

Previous cycling trips to Nova Gorica: 2020, 2019

I started in darkness and near Kropa, the sky started to show its daily colours.

First ascent was behind me and I was rewarded with a great view to Jamnik.

Our meeting point was in Železniki and together we rode to Petrovo Brdo.

Above Nova Gorica, smelling beer and pizza.

Slovenia: Hike & Fly - Hud Kon'c - Kamniški vrh

I am filling the stamps in my hike & fly booklet and one of the stamps can be obtained on Kamniški vrh, so I left work a little earlier and drove to Stahovica. From there I hiked to Hud Kon'c, a little less known peak on my way to Kamniški vrh. I stamped my booklet and spread my wing almost at the summit. Since the wind was quite strong, I waited for a while and after an hour the conditions were good for take off. After a while I landed in Stahovica and today's mission was a total success.
