Slovenia: Požar, Rušnata Mlinarica and Požgana Mlinarica

Today, Nada and me chose to hike on some less walked trails. Our goal was to visit three peaks, Požar, Rušnata Mlinarica and Požgana Mlinarica. They are situated on a ridge between Kot and Vrata valleys and you can visit them following only unmarked trails. From the ridge, there is an awesome view to surrounding peaks above the mentioned valleys. We descended to the South, to Kot valley.

Even though the trail to Požar isn't marked, you can't miss it.

Forest gave us nice protection from the Sun.

View to Kot valley from the lookout point half way to Požar.

Macesnovec, Dimniki, Luknja peč and Rjavina on the other side of the valley.

View to the lower part of Kot valley with Jerebikovec.

Nada and the trees.

We conquered our first peak Požar, 1543 m. From the top we had a good view to the peaks on the other side of the Vrata valley.

Our ridge continues to the South.

Dolkova Špica and Škrlatica in the clouds, Veliki Oltar, Škrnatarica and Kukova špica next to them.

Selfie on top of Požar.

Continuing towards the next peak, Rušnata Mlinarica.

View to the North, towards the Karawanks.

The path to Rušnata Mlinarica became more difficult, still easily traceable and equipped with some stone cairns.

Over the natural window.

Limestone mountains.

2nd peak summited.

From time to time we were hidden between the dwarf mountain pine trees.

Our last peak, Požgana Mlinarica, 1868 m.

Surrounded by two-thousanders.

Selfie with Rjavina behind us.

Miniature Aljaž Tower.

Look over the cliff into the Kot valley.

Start of the hardest part of the day, Very steep descend, cliffy area and hardly trackable path.

When the grass is your biggest friend.

From time to time we spotted some stone cairns and we were happy. On the other hand, we often had to search for good passages.

We slowly and carefully advanced.

Stubborn trees.

Slowly advancing towards the scree, where the difficulties end.

Just a small jump to the lower shelf and we are out of troubles.

Over the scree to the resting tree.

Our path led us over the passages on the sliced mountain on the left.

Alpine ibex (Capra ibex) was the only mammal, we met on our trip.

The fun ended, when we joined the marked trail.

One more look to conquered mountain.

Back in Kot valley.

Just a few more steps and our round trip will end.

Another great day in the lonely mountains.
