Austria: Backcountry Skiing - Mosermandl

Our neighbouring country Austria still has some nice amounts of snow, so Janez, Boštjan, Tomaž and me decided to check if it is true. Our destination was Mosermandl. We drove to Wald, where we parked our car and we immediately put on our skis. At first we walked on a flat terrain but soon the fun began and we were gaining altitude with every step. After a while, the snow disappeared, as it was blown away by the wind, so we continued on foot. As we were approaching the summit, the conditions became dangerous for avalanches, we were also tired, so at around 100 meters below top, we decided that it is time to turn around. We put on our skis and smiles on our faces and rushed back to the valley, to a well deserved beer.

Winter fairytale.

Boštjan took the lead.

Area with blown away snow.

Damn, it is still far.

Short break.

Looking over the shoulder.

Final meters, before we decided to stop. The summit will be conquered next time.

Well, that was me. Simply awesome.

Can't describe this feeling with words.

Everyone had a big smile on their face.

Tired from going up, tired from going down - we needed a short break from time to time.

Finishing curves - Garmin Connect.
