Slovenia: Skiing in Ledine

My friend Boris invited me to a giant slalom competition. Since the month name on the calendar is June, there wasn't a lot of options where to go. Skuta Glacier or Ledine is now the only glacier left in Slovenia and therefore the place of the competition. In the morning I drove to Jezersko, to Ravenska Kočna, from where I hiked to Kranjska koča na Ledinah mountain hut. I met the other competitors and after the welcome drink we moved our gear to the glacier. We set the giant slalom course and the race could start. 13 competitors from different parts of Slovenia and all sort of gear struggled on the difficult track and after 2 runs and without injuries the results were tight. The main prize was, 24 beers, was given to the winner. Congratulations. I stayed for a while on the track and later in front of the hut and then it was time to return back home. We all had another great and unforgettable day.

The track was very difficult, even for experienced skiers.

 

Skuta Glacier is the most south-eastern glacier in the Alps.

Returning back to Ravenska Kočna valley. Ledine is not the only name used for the place where we were.
