Slovenia: From Planica to Slemenova špica
Beautiful weather, free Sunday and a new mountain were some of the reasons that made us do the hike from Planica to Slemenova špica, 1911 m, also called Sleme. Sleme has two totally different sides. One side is nice and it is very romantic and has a lot of visits. The other side (north face) is dark, very steep and falls to the valley called Tamar. Tamar is the main starting point for ascent on Jalovec, 2645 m, which is one of the most popular mountains in Slovenia and Sleme offers one of the best views to it, therefore all the famous photos of Jalovec are photoed from here.
After an hour of walking from Planica to Dom v Tamarju mountain hut, 1108 m |
Sun started to shine on Jalovec and a big sign was still telling us we were on the right way |
Another one from Tamar valley |
Waterfall Črne vode (black water) cascades down in a 70 metre drop and then immediately sinks underground. |
Near the top with the magnificent view |
Our gear and the ridge that consist of (from left to right) Mala Mojstrovka, 2332 m, Velika Mojstrovka, 2366 m, Zadnja Mojstrovka, 2354 m and Travnik., 2379 m. A definite plan for the near future. Foto by Nada D. |
Mountains everywhere and a discussion what still needs to be done
Panorama from Slemenova špica. You are already familiar with the ridge left from Jalovec. The right ridge borders Italy and consists of Vevnica, 2342 m, Strug, 2265 m, Zadnja Ponca, 2242 m, Srednja Ponca, 2228 m, Visoka Ponca, 2274 m and Mala Ponca, 1925 m. Not all are visible. |
